And LORD, may you bless our evening of PILL PACKING! ... this is what my dear, sweet husband (Brian) said during our dinner prayers this evening ... well, I just bust out laughing; I could not contain myself.
:-) **Forgive me, Lord!** (-:
Yep ~ tonight we went down the road to The Loomer's home to sort and pack pills (vitamins, supplements, medication, etc ...) The Loomer's garage has been turned into a pharmacy - take a look at this!!! This is just one view of the garage. On the left of the photo below, you can see the large trunks. These will hold all of these supplies and also take the place of each passenger's checked luggage.
Items were sorted by type ... on the right you can see all of the Gospel bracelets that will be given to the children. I believe the grand total came out to 1200 bracelets.
Everyone gets a bottle of pills and a plate and also a small medicine cup ...
... it works best to count out thirty pills into the medicine cup and then pour the cup into the little plastic bag.
Several mission team members were there to help out ...
... LOOK!!! ... even Ben was there ... FINALLY a day off of work!
There was another group of ladies at another table and with the exception of one, these ladies are not going to Honduras but they have played a very important part as they are several of the SUPER SEW-ERS of the "Mary and Martha" bags that I mentioned in an earlier post.
Below are the bags, ... each one crafted with care!
The ladies made 1000 "Mary and Martha" bags! WOW!
They will be given out to the women who come through the clinic in Honduras.
We even had some little helpers with us ...
... after we counted out the pills, they would pout them cups into the bags for us.
Brynn was a good helper to all ... here she is with Gramma Shirley!
This will be Shirley's 12th trip to Honduras and her 69th mission trip (she started going on mission trips when she turned 60 - WHOA!); she is very active in serving the LORD!! AND she is such an inspiration ~ so motivational!!
It will be so great to be in Honduras with her!
Carter was pretty good at helping too! He had himself a little system going and he kept pretty busy!
But they did take a break to play a game or two!
Molly kept really busy sorting all the "hair pretties"!
She organized them by like item. All the headbands went in one bag; all the scrunchies went in another, ribbons, hair clips, ponytail holders, etc ... all in their own bags.
I really thought these pills looked like CANDY ... like red hots or red m&m's ... Ben wasn't buying it though!!
The little bags of 30 pills would then be counted out - 100 bags to a gallon zip lock, then marked for packing.
There were SO MANY pills!!
Then we got to talking about Coca-Cola (which I happen to enjoy occasionally) and they told us how, of course, we could get Coca-Cola in Honduras (however, our safest bet would be to get it from the Mission House) and then I had shared how Ben just got me a pack of the mini-bottles for my birthday, along with the notebook I will take to Honduras.
I was sitting right next to Inie and she asked me,
"When was your birthday?"
I said, "oh, it was on Tuesday."
She questioned, "Your birthday is on the 18th?"
I said, "Yes, it is."
She then said, "That's when MY birthday is!!"
WOW!!! How cool is that??
Well, I said that deserved a photo for sure!!!
So, here we are ... the two birthday girls! ... Inie said to make sure everyone knows that SHE's the YOUNGER one!
Here's a few more photos of Ben ... taking bottles of pills out of their packaging so we can get started on them.
Then Brynn decided she wanted to be just like big brother Ben ... aren't they sweet?
Molly's hard work paid off. She got all the children's hair items and hair pretties organized!
At the end of the night, we even took several of the pills home with us, ... those that were in smaller groups and we worked on them a bit more at home.
These are children's acetaminophen.
These little bottles are allergy pills.
Each bottle has 300 tiny white pills in them ~ those sure are fun to sort and count out!
In just 8 days now ...
