Hola Everybody! It’s
been quite a long time since I last posted but it’s now time to get you up to
speed on what has been happening ... don't you think?
So,
we’ve been to Honduras the last two years during this nearly this same week – no, we are
NOT in Honduras right now – BUT! We Are Going to Honduras Again!
Earlier this year we began the planning and preparations for
another mission trip to Honduras, only this time would be a bit different than
the previous trips. The original plan was
to split the team into two groups with one group going to Tegucigalpa for the
medical/evangelism brigade ministry that we have done in the past. The second group would be going to Rancho
Ebenezer, a group home and school that serves displaced and orphaned children
of Honduras. The Associate Pastor of our
church and his family moved to the Ranch as missionaries earlier this year.
As it turns out, we have made the important decision to have
the entire team go to serve at Ebenezer Ranch.
There are several factors that went into making this decision but we
believe it is the best decision to make for the team and for our church at this
time. The Ranch is located outside of
Tegucigalpa, about an hour and a half bus ride into the mountains.
Ranch
Serve Teams can be involved in a variety of ways from construction projects to
children’s outreach. The focus of the
work is to show the Hondurans the love of Christ and improve their physical
environment. Projects could include
helping fix a roof of a family in the community that doesn’t have the means to
do it themselves, or provide a concrete floor to a family that desperately
wants to keep their children healthier and safe from parasites. Additionally, activities are planned to serve
and interact with the children who reside under the care of Ebenezer Ranch.
We, AS A TEAM, are about half way
to our goal of being fully funded to go on this mission trip to Honduras and we
have four months before the final payment is due.
We still have a BIG task before us … BUT
… we are praying hard that GOD moves mightily on behalf of this team and for His Glory!!
We are counting on God and those who He moves to help us with the following:
- Provide the rest of the finances our team needs to GO!
- Guide us in determining team members skill sets/strengths and how we can use those to best serve the missionaries and children of the Ebenezer Ranch and the families in the community outside the Ranch
- Collect some necessary supplies to bring along with us to the Ranch (Care Packs, Children's clothing, Ranch necessities, etc - stay tuned for more details)
- Inspire within us the aspect of the church service(s) we are responsible for facilitating.
- Extended team members to come along side us to pray for, encourage and support us as we seek to serve our LORD and Savior.
Oh, and for our own personal supporters, you are likely not aware as we did not include this in the letters we sent out, but Molly and Brynn will be joining our team, not just as helpers this year, but also in going to Honduras with us. They will be our mini-missionaries and work alongside us as we serve those we come in contact with. While we are paying a large portion of their fees, we have also been doing our own fundraising on the side with our Baking for F-U-Nds orders, making things like Welsh Cakes, Fruit Scones and Caramel Pecan Pies!! Woo-Hoo ~ we've made over $500 so far! Yay, God!! They are pretty excited about it, as well as their parents, as we anticipate sharing this experience with them.
