From February 28 through March 7, 2015, a team will provide for the physical needs, as well as the spiritual needs, of the Honduran people. Follow us as we document the preparations and the planning, the training and the team-building, the going and the growing as we serve the LORD Jesus, our One and Only Savior, and the people of Honduras.

Our 2012 and 2013 missions are here as well ...

The Invitation - No Jacket Required

The Invitation (original author unknown)

I shook my head in disbelief. This couldn’t be the right place.  After all, I couldn’t possibly be welcome here. I had been given an invitation several times, by several different people, and had finally decided to see what this place was all about. But, this just couldn’t be the right place.

Quickly, I glanced down at the invitation that I clutched in my hand. I scanned past the words, ”Come as you are. No jacket required.” And found the location. Yes, I was at the right place.  I peered through the window again and saw a room of people whose faces seemed to glow with joy. All were neatly dressed, adorned in fine garments and appeared strangely clean as they dined at this exquisite restaurant.

Ashamed, I looked down at my own tattered and torn clothing, covered in stains. I was dirty, in fact, filthy.  A foul smell seemed to consume me and I couldn’t shake the grime that clung to my body. As I turned around to leave, the words from the invitation seemed to leap out at me… “Come as you are. No jacket required.”

I decided to give it a shot. Mustering up every bit of courage I could find, I opened the door to this restaurant and walked up to a man standing behind a podium. “Your name, sir?” he asked me with a smile.

“Jimmy D. Brown,” I mumbled without looking up. I thrust my hands deep into my pockets, hoping to conceal their stains. He didn’t seem to notice the filth that I was covered in and he continued, “Very good, sir. A table is reserved in your name.  Would you like to be seated?”

I couldn’t believe what I heard! A grin broke out on my face and I said, “Yes, of course!” He lead me to a table and, sure enough, there was a placard with my name written on it in a deep, dark red.

A I browsed over a menu, I saw many delightful items listed. There were things like, “peace,” “joy,” “blessings,” “confidence,” “assurance,” “hope,” “love,” “faith,” and “mercy.” I realized that this was no ordinary restaurant! I flipped the menu back to the front in order to see where I was at … “God’s Grace,” was the name of this place!

The man returned and said, “I recommend the ‘Special of the Day’. With it, you are entitled to heaping portions of everything on this menu.”

You’ve got to be kidding!  I thought to myself.  You mean, I can have ALL of this! “What is the ‘Special of the Day’ I asked with excitement ringing in my voice.

“Salvation,” was his reply.

“I’ll take it,” I practically cried out. Then, as quickly as I made that statement, the joy left my body. A sick, painful ache jerked through my stomach and tears filled my eyes. Between my sobs I said … “Mister, look at me. I’m dirty and nasty.  I’m unclean an unworthy of such things. I’d love to have all of this, but, I just can’t afford it.”

Undaunted, the man smiled again. “Sir, your check has already been taken care of by that Gentleman over there,” he said pointing to the front of the room. “His name is Jesus.”

Turning, I saw a man whose very presence seemed to light the room. He was almost too much to look at.  I found myself walking towards Him and in a shaking voice I whispered, “Sir, I’ll wash the dishes or sweep the floors or take out the trash. I’ll do anything I can do to repay you for all of this.”

He opened His arms and said with a smile, “Son, all of this is yours if you just come unto me. Ask me to clean you up and I will.  Ask me to take away the stains and it is done.  Ask me to allow you to feast at my table and you will eat. Remember, the table is reserved in your name. All you must do is accept the gift that I offer you.”

Astonished, I fell at His feet and said, “Please, Jesus. Please clean up my life.  Please change me and sit me at your table and give me this new life.”

Immediately, I heard the words, “It is finished.” I looked down and white robes adorned my squeaky clean body. Something strange and wonderful had happened. I felt new, like a weight had been lifted and I found myself seated at His table.

“The ‘Special of the Day’ has been served,” the Lord said to me. “Salvation is yours.” We sat and talked for great while and I so enjoyed the time that I spent with Him. He told me, me of all people, that He would like for me to come back as often as I liked for another helping of God’s Grace. He made it clear that He wanted me to spend as much time with Him as possible.

As it drew near time for me to go back outside into the “real world,” He whispered to me softly, “And Lo, I am with you always.” And then, He said something to me that I will never forget. He said…”My child, do you see these empty tables throughout this room?”

“Yes, Lord.  I see them. What do they mean?” I replied.

“These are reserved tables…but the individuals whose names are on each placard have not accepted their invitations to dine. Would you be so kind as to hand out these invitations to those who have not joined us yet?” Jesus asked.

“Of course,” I said with excitement as I picked up the invitations.

“Go ye therefore into all nations,” He said as I turned to leave.

I walked into God’s Grace dirty and hungry, stained in sin, my righteousness as filthy rags. And Jesus cleaned me up.

I walked out a brand new man…robed in white, His Righteousness. And so, I’ll keep my promise to my Lord.  I’ll go.  I’ll spread the Word. I’ll share the Gospel…I’ll hand out the invitations. And I’ll start with you.

Have you been to God’s Grace? There’s a table reserved in your name, and here’s your invitation… “Come as you are. No jacket required.”

“For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, - and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast.” ~Ephesians 2:8-9

Pizza Ranch Fundraiser - Part 2

This past Monday we had our second fundraiser at the Pizza Ranch!  What?  Another reason to go eat at the Pizza Ranch - why, of course, we'll be there!!
Friends, be sure to read all the way to the end of the post.  There's some extra special Ranch news ...

Here's teammate Paul ~ Hi Paul!  Hola, Paul!

This lovely lady is Margaret and the little cutie-petutie is her granddaughter who celebrated her 2nd birthday at the Pizza Ranch!  Woo Hoo!  Margaret just returned from a mission trip to Kenya ~ so exciting!!

Cuatro de los miembros de nuestro equipo ~ Four of our team members
(Dan, Brian, Trent, and Stacy)

Otros tres miembros del equipo ~ Three more team members
 (Matt, Colleen and Shirley)

GREAT photo!
Paul and his lovely wife, Nancy ~ Paul y su encantadora esposa, Nancy

Mi hermana linda, Debbie ~ My cute siste, Debbie

 Here's some happy Pizza Ranchers!

These two lovely people, Sue and Martin, came all the way from England!  WOW!  Now, that's some serious supporting!!!  Okay, ... really they just happen to be here because their first grandchild was just born about two weeks ago and, of course, they had to come here to meet the little treasure.  We're so happy you are here to show us your support and visit with us.  We sure do love these two!
CONGRATULATIONS to them on their first grandbaby!!
¡Felicidades!

Here's another lovely photo with my sister ... and now Molly too, who passed the photographer-baton to Brynn who was all to eager to take on the role!!

In this photo, Brynn actually took the photo of herself!
Well done, Brynn!  ¡Bien hecho!

OH MY!  That sure is a BIG scoop!!

Some more very happy Ranchers!  The little guy on the right was blushing up a storm when Brynn asked if she could take his photo!  Hilarious!

We sure do have F-U-N at the Ranch!!

The second fundraising night at the Pizza Ranch was as successful as the first night and a wonderfully tasty and fun time was had by all!  Around $670 was raised and will be given to a team member who is quite deficient on funds for the trip.  We have heard that there is another team member, one of the nurses, who is also behind on the funds.  We'd ask that you PLEASE PRAY for this individual and for God's provision and Presence for her.  She is feeling quite discouraged.

And now ... for the extra special news!!
This is the part that reminds us that our fundraisers aren't just about fundraising ~ they are events that open us the opportunity to reach a multitude of people for Christ ~ AMEN!!!

During the night, a man and his family came in to the Pizza Ranch and, of course, paid for the buffet, chose a booth and went about the business of having their meal.  At one point, Brian walked by and offered to remove some of their empty plates and asked if they were enjoying themselves and if there was anything they'd like (as in a special-order pizza from the kitchen, maybe?).  The man was a bit surprised (by the wonderful service - way to go, honey) and asked what was going on.  The man realized shortly after they arrived that SOMETHING was going on by the "buzz" of all the people and because the shirts that all of us were wearing stood out.  Brian shared about our fundraising for the mission trip and explained the purpose of the mission.  The man and his family were very interested and Brian proceeded to tell them about the churches that were involved and mentioned that any one of them would be welcoming to him and his family if they decided to "check 'em out".  They seemed interested and after only a few minutes of conversation, we had several more supporters!  To a man who just decided to stop in that night, Brian reflected Jesus!  Please pray that this man chooses Jesus and leads his family to make the same choice.

At the end of the night, Stacy, one of our team members who was still there helping to clean up after the Ranch had closed, was able to speak to one of Ranch employees in-depth about our mission, church, Jesus - the whole gammat!!  Can you believe it??  Woo Hoo!  Kudos to Stacy!  Please pray that this young man chooses Jesus too!

Think about all the CHOICES you get to make each and every day.  Do any of them hold greater eternal significance?

Please pray for each of us going on this mission trip to be confident in our role to simply TELL the TRUTH about our LORD and SAVIOR, ... that we may be empowered by the Spirit to tell it in a way that positively impacts each person we come in contact with.   Please pray also for the Hondurans we will meet ... that they too will be softened by the Spirit and open to the TRUTH, enabling them to choose Jesus.

The Evangecube

The Evangecube!
How many of you have ever seen this?  It's a pretty neat tool to use when sharing the gospel message with someone, especially if they're a visual learner.  The evangecube is one tool that Ben is interested in using when he witnesses ~ I might get him to help me present a devotion at AWANA this year and he could use the evangecube.

Let's see how it works!

The cube has numbered pictures and the numbers have arrows to indicate in which direction to open the cube next.

The first picture shows God (depicted by a bright light) on the right and man surrounded by darkness on the left.
God is perfect and man is sinless and so they are separated.

When you open the cube the next picture depicts Jesus on the cross.
He died in our place to save us from our sins.

Jesus was buried in a tomb that was sealed with a giant boulder and guarded by armed soldiers to prevent anyone from stealing the body.

But do you really think that some silly boulder and two armed soldiers could hold back the POWER OF GOD???

GOD raised Jesus from the dead on the third day, just as He said ... defeating the strangling grip of sin.

Faith in Jesus, His death on the cross and victory over death provides a bridge to cover the gap that was once the separation between God and man.

All you have to do is accept what Jesus did ... He did it just for you.  Take hold of Him ... He's holding out His hand!

At the end of the cube is the picture below.  It outlines the steps for Christians, ... those who choose Christ ... to follow as part of their new journey.
The Heart is for LOVE.  Love God, love others.
The figure above the heart is for PRAYER.  Pray about everything.
Study the BIBLE.  Read and learn from God's Word.
FELLOWSHIP with other Believers.
TELL others and the world about Jesus.

Really BIG News!!!

The really BIG news for the day (and I'm sorry that it is a few days late) is that we have received all the funds needed for our mission trip!!!  WOW!!!  Isn't that awesome news?  We are really happy about this and quite relieved that this task is complete.  We are so appreciative to all of our supporters ~ you all have been so important to us and we are blessed because of E-A-C-H one of Y-O-U!!!

Just look at this stack!!

We have this Great *B*I*G* *G*O*D* Team now because of all the love, encouragement and support from so may of you so here's a SHOUT OUT to all of you who are making it possible for us to go on this mission trip!!
  • 40 individual supporters/families
  • 1 lovely little church in England
  • HUNDREDS of Supporters via Fundraisers:
Community Church of Elkhorn Rummage Sale
                Franks Piggly Wiggly Brat Hut
                Pizza Ranch (July and August)
                Notecard Sales
                Contributions via Church Attenders
                eBay Sales

In addition to that, some of you have written us notes on the contribution reply forms, ... and some have sent cards to us in the mail and still more have emailed replies or comments to blog posts we've sent.  We want you to know that this has truly encouraged us and spurred us along in our plans to serve the LORD in Honduras.  Everything you do has made an impact on us and has been so special to us.

At Sunday's meeting, we were briefly visited by the Pastor of Missions for the main church that is sending us on this mission trip.  He just wanted to speak to us for a moment about ... FEAR.  I have to tell you all ... when this man spoke, it was as if he knew exactly what I've been thinking lately.  How'd he do that?  My eyes got really BIG and there was the nudge from Brian because he knew ... that I knew ... that this Pastor knew ... and was sending me a message straight from GOD!  I had to bite the inside of my cheek to keep from crying and to focus on what he was saying.

I have to tell you, though, ... I'm not the only who's been thinking things birthed from fear.  There were others in the room who acknowledged and affirmed having the same thoughts and fears that the Pastor was speaking of.  Whew!  It's not just me!  There is actually beauty in that statement, sometimes ~ I'm sure you would agree.

This Pastor of Missions gave us a verse, not one I'd never known before, in fact, it is one I know of very well, but when he gave it, it was as if I had just heard it for the first time.

2 Timothy 1:7 (NLT) - For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline.

Of course!  It is not God who is making me afraid.  He does not want me to be fearful and when I am ... it is NOT from Him.  It is from the Enemy!

I must confess ... now that it is a few days later ... some of those fears have crept upon me again.  I need to continue to remind myself that God has not given me a spirit of fear.  There are many members on our team who have fears or insecurities of some sort.  If you have some words of encouragement or a particular Bible verse or quote you'd like to share with us, we would gladly welcome them!!!  A woman from our church is gathering index cards from people in the congregation who have written a "note" or Bible verse for the team members to read as we journey to Honduras.  We can read them in the airport(s), on the plane, in the mission house, in our bunk as we prepare for bed each night.  If you send us some words, we'll write them down and add them to the others.
**PRAYER REQUESTS:

 - that ALL team members are fully funded for the mission trip!
 - that we stay healthy and strong, physically, emotionally and spiritually so we can serve with our BEST!
 - that we will be aware of the leading of God and allow Him to direct us in thought, word and action ... now and when we are in Honduras!

Evangelism: The Question

WOW!  I have so much to tell you ... I apologize up front for the multitude of posts you are about to be bombarded with, ... but hopefully you will not be annoyed, but blessed.

Well, yesterday we had our last official meeting for our mission trip to Honduras. WOW! That really puts it into perspective how close it really is! There are exactly 40 days now before we leave for Honduras.

At the meeting, we role played a bit to give us a chance to get an idea of what it might be like for those of us “working” in Evangelism during our time in Honduras. If you remember, there will be multiple opportunities to serve in Honduras:

Medical
Dental
Vision
Pharmaceutical
Evangelism
Children’s Ministry/Hair Washing
Concrete

For those of us who are in Evangelism, we will likely be in groups of three.  The groups will consist of one Honduran, one translator and one team member.  When one of the Honduran people is brought to us, we will greet him/her and introduce ourselves and maybe ask a few questions to give us some background on the individual.  But ultimately, there's a question that needs to be asked (may be asked in a variety of ways, but same basic point):

When you die, do you know where you are going?
If you were to die tonight, would you go to heaven?
Do you know whether or not you are saved?

Seem harsh, ... direct ... too personal??  This is why we are going to Honduras.  As I said in THIS POST, "the primary goal of our Mission to Honduras is to share the powerful message of salvation in Jesus with the Honduran people."  We hope and pray that we are lead to ask the question in just the right way.

Based on the response to the question, the conversation could go one of two ways:

The Honduran could state that he/she is not a "believer" and we would then share the truth about Jesus and pray with him/her.
The Honduran might state that he/she IS already a "believer" and we would ask if there is anything we could pray for him/her.

There are a variety of scenarios that could lead us to witnessing to each Honduran we come in contact with, but during our training this particular incident was shared with me.

A Honduran man came through and was "on the side" hearing the message being shared with others.  A female team member witnessed the man's eyes welling up with tears.  She didn't know if perhaps the man's eyes were welling because he had received some dental work and might be experiencing some pain but she went with it and told another team member that the Honduran might be open to talking with them.  He sat with them and the male team member did much of the conversing (via the translator) and the female team member prayed and prayed.  The Honduran listened to the Gospel message and stated that he was a bad man.  The male team member stated that he was a "bad man" too, even providing examples of things that he had done in his past and how accepting Jesus had changed all that for him.  The Honduran man replied that those things were not the same, that he was a VERY bad man.  The female team member was feeling very strongly that the Holy Spirit was prompting her to ask the man if he wanted to confess something and through the translator they told the Honduran man this and asked him if he wanted to confess anything.  The Honduran man was very open to this and proceeded to tell them that just three weeks before the moment he was sitting there he had murdered a Coca-Cola delivery-man so that he could get money to send his daughter to kindergarten.

I am really glad that this was shared with me because I feel that I need to be prepared for someone to tell me something shocking or hard to listen to.  Regardless of what that man did, he was just as much deserving of God's Grace in that moment as anyone else and they walked him along the path to Salvation and he became a "NEW MAN" that day!!

That is why Jesus came!  ... to provide the path to Salvation ... That is why we are going to Honduras ... to help them choose that path!

1 Timothy 2:3b-4 (NLT) ...God our Savior, 4 who wants everyone to be saved and to understand the truth.

2 Peter 3:9 (NIV) The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

John 3:17 (NIV) For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Supplies and 7-up(s)!

WOW!!!  Will you just take a look at that???  This is a very large basket that is beginning to overflow with all of its items ... items that will be taken to Honduras next month.  Did I just say "next month"?  Whoa!  The mission trip to Honduras is only about six weeks away ... time is really flying by!

Anyway, there are several neighbors and mission supporters who have been helping us collect items and supplies needed for the mission to Honduras.  Here's a big thank-you and a shout-out to Michele!!  Our sweet neighbor, Joyce, brought a whole bag full of goodies today.  Can you see those super-cute hair pretties??  Some little Honduran girls are going to be really excited!

So, here's a little fun encouragement to hopefully help you through your day.  I came across this in a stack of papers and thought it would be nice to share.  It's called 7-UP ... no, not like the soda (but speaking of, did anybody else used to just l-o-v-e 7-UP?  Well, ... I did) ... these 7-UP(s) might just have caffeine because they could really get you going!  ENJOY!

The 7-ups! (original author unknown)

WAKE UP!
Decide to have a good day!
This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. ~Psalm 118:24

DRESS UP!
The best way to dress up is to put on a smile. A smile is an inexpensive way to improve your looks.
The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart. ~1Samuel 16:7

SHUT UP!
Say nice things and learn to listen. God gave us two ears and one mouth, so He must have meant for us to do twice as much listening as talking.
He who guards his lips guards his soul. ~Proverbs 13:3

STAND UP!
… for what you believe in.
For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that youprofess your faith and are saved. ~Romans 10:10

LOOK UP!
… to the Lord.
Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. ~Psalm 105:4

REACH UP!
… for something higher.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. ~Proverbs 3:5-6

LIFT UP!
… your prayers.
Do not worry about anything; instead PRAY ABOUT EVERYTHING. ~Philippians 4:6

Mission Funds Due***

***ATTENTION PLEASE***  (Atención Por Favor)

The deadline for our mission fundraising is this coming Sunday!  From the beginning, we were to raise $1,595.00 per person ($4,785.00 for the three of us) and from the beginning we put forward the $200 per person deposit towards our total fundraising.  That left $4,185.00 to raise in support from family members, friends, co-workers and extra fundraisers.  We are really close and we are so thankful ... to God for His provision and to all of you for the wonderful prayers and support you have offered!

We are truly blessed and we haven't even left for Honduras yet!!!

There are a few of you who let us know that you wanted to partner with us via a financial contribution, which we are really excited about and extremely thankful.  We'd just like to remind you that those funds are technically due by this Sunday (August 19, 2012).  Of course, your contribution will be helpful at any point, as there are many other needs related to this mission trip as well.

Again, we are so thankful and blessed beyond measure for the many mission partners we have acquired.  Please continue praying for us and for the team and please pray also for the Honduran people who struggle just to get through each day.
Blessings and peace to each of you, (Bendiciones y paz a cada uno de ustedes!)

What I Want To Be ...

“What do you want to be when you grow up?”

I asked this to a group of kids at AWANA one evening. When you ask a kid this question, all sorts of answers are given.

Some kids want to be a doctor.

Some kids want to be a police officer.

Some want to be a lawyer.

Some want to be a pilot.

“What is your favorite animal?”

That is the next question I asked. Oh boy, … there really are some fun answers for this one!

What about you? What do you want to be when you grow up?  And what is your favorite animal?

What if I told you that what I want to be and my favorite animal are actually … THE SAME?? What?  No, REALLY!!!

Do you know what it is?

Here’s a little hint …

Sheep?  Yes, SHEEP!

I live in Walworth County and that is home to the annual (163 years and going strong!!!) Walworth County Fair!!! (To learn more about the Walworth County Fair held the week before Labor Day, click here:http://www.walworthcountyfair.com/) One of my favorite things to do when I go to the fair (besides eats lots and lots of fair food) is to go visit the sheep!

Yep, that’s right!  I am just crazy about them!!

And when we go to England and Wales, I get really excited as we drive along the road and can look out the window to see a beautiful countryside speckled with SHEEP!!

You know, if I lived on a farm, I would have my own little flock of sheep. Wouldn’t that be cool?

And if I did … what would that make me??? Can you guess?  Yep, that’s right … it would make me a shepherd!

Shepherding is one of the oldest occupations known to mankind, even before farming. Shepherds traveled from place to place, living in tents while driving their flocks of sheep from one pasture to another. The sheep and their shepherd lived together every minute of every day. In fact, they were so intimately bound together that individual sheep, even when mixed with other flocks, could recognize the voice of their own shepherd and would come immediately when called by name.  A shepherd owned and marked his sheep. For thousands of years, shepherds around the world marked their sheep by notching their ears with a sharp knife. Each shepherd had his own distinctive notch that indicated identity and ownership.

Today, instead of notching the ears of sheep, the sheep’s ears may be pierced with identification tags.

But the most common form of marking and identifying sheep today is wool marking.

Is anyone wondering how what I’ve told you so far makes me want to be a “sheep”?

Oh, … keep reading, sheep are just awesome! I’m getting to “why” I think so … but did you know that some people do not agree. Can you believe it?  There are some (and maybe even a few of you, before you even get to the end of this post) who think that sheep“are dumb animals!” WHAT???  Why would anyone say that?

Well, one reason is because sheep have a strong herding or flocking instinct. And due to their strong flocking instinct and failure to act independently of one another, sheep have been universally branded "stupid." Sheep have a strong instinct to follow the sheep in front of them. When one sheep decides to go somewhere, the rest of the flock usually follows, even if it is not a good "decision." For example, sheep will follow each other to slaughter. If one sheep jumps over a cliff, the others are likely to follow. Even from birth, lambs are conditioned to follow the older members of the flock. This instinct is "hard-wired" into sheep. It's not something they "think" about.

Another reason they’re called “dumb” is because often times a sheep will “tip over” and can then not right itself again. If a sheep falls over on its side or back and is not put right again, it will most likely die.

Sheep can get tangled in brambles and brush. Because of their wool, if they get stuck in something with thorns or lots of little branches, they will unlikely be able to get themselves out.

Sheep can get lost easily. They spend much of their time wandering around the pasture, eating grass and following other sheep, somewhat aimlessly. A sheep is not usually capable of remembering where it started to find its way back.

Ahh … so that’s where the Shepherd comes in.

The shepherd’s role is to control the flocks movements. The shepherd will keep the sheep in areas that will allow them to continually be fed. He will right the wrong-sided sheep; He will loose the tangled sheep and He will search out and find the lost sheep. The shepherd watches over the sheep and cares for their every need. The sheep don’t have to know the way home; they only need to know who will lead them. They don’t have to be able to “right” themselves or get themselves out of the “tangled” mess they got into … all they have to do is call out and wait upon the shepherd and he will find them, get them out of their “mess” and bring them home where they belong.

Psalm 100:3 – Know that the Lord is God.  It is He who made and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture

John 10:14 – I am the good shepherd; I know my own sheep, and they know me

John 10:27 - My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me

When you think about it, sheep don't come across as stressed-out creatures. In fact, they seem almost oblivious to danger. Sheep don't seem to worry about where their next meal is coming from, if they will have a place to sleep each night, when the next enemy or thief will attack, or even what the next day holds. When sheep are sick or in need, they simply turn to their Shepherd, instinctively knowing He will take care of them and comfort them until healing comes. Being a sheep is the perfect picture of who we are in Jesus. Without Him we can do nothing; we need Him and He takes care of us.
I want to be a sheep! I want to be stress-free and oblivious to danger! I don’t want to worry about if I’ll keep having enough food for my table or the roof over my head...but sometimes I do. I don’t want to worry about the economy throwing me into poverty ... but sometimes I do. I don’t want to worry about the Enemy interfering with my life and the lives of my children ... but sometimes I do. I don’t want to worry about what I can’t control ... how about you? But don’t we, many times, try to control every aspect of our lives and sometimes even the lives of those around us? All it brings us is trouble … a troubled heart, a troubled mind, a troubled stomach. Seriously, God did not intend for us to live our lives in such knots!

I want to be a sheep who remembers each day who I belong to. I want to truly know my Shepherd … intimately and so much so that I can hear and know His voice. I just want to be a sheep … who follows my Shepherd faithfully and carefree. The LORD is my Shepherd … who takes care of all my needs … who leads me and guides me in the way He knows is best … Even when I struggle and problems arise, I do not have to be afraid, because my Shepherd is with me and He brings me comfort.

Psalm 23
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,  they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and love will follow me
all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord
forever.

So, … what do you want to be ???
