One-Verse Evangelism - Brian's Flip Book

Hi Everyone!  Remember back to THIS POST when we gave an introduction to what "One-Verse Evangelism" is ... ???

Well, here is Brian's version of it!  He's developed this "flip-book" to explain the Gospel using one verse of the Bible, breaking it down one bite at a time.  He even has it translated into Spanish so the Hondurans can follow along!!!

 

This is how it works:

The verse is Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Wages - How would you feel if you worked all day and then your employer refused to pay you the wages that were due to you?  We know that it would be wrong for us not to receive what we had earned.  In the same way, we earn wages from God for how we have lived our lives.
 

What do you think of when you hear (or read) the word "SIN"?

Do you think of darkness, despair?  How about distance?

Has God ever seemed far away?

SIN puts distance between US and GOD.

What about the word "DEATH"?

In the Bible, the word death means separation. 

Not only does SIN "distance" us from God, if we die in our sins, it completely separates us from God forever.

But, there's a "BUT" ...

"But" means "on the contrary" ~ it means we've just said one thing and we're about to say the opposite!

Next question: If WAGES are what a person earns, then what is a GIFT?

A GIFT is something you get ... for FREE!

The FREE GIFT we're talking about here comes from God, Himself ~ it's just for you!

 

Can you see the diagram in the photos as we're going along?

Do you see how there are two sides, the left and the right?

Do you notice the pattern between the two sides?

They're opposites!! 

 

WAGES (what you earn) is opposite to GIFT (something you get for free)

SIN (darkness, despair...) is opposite to GOD (Light, Love...)

And the opposite of DEATH is ... !da duh da dah duh dah! ... is LIFE ...

 

... and in Christ Jesus we can have it ETERNALLY!!!

Do you notice the picture below?  Do you see how Jesus filled the "distance" between the left and the right?

 

We all start out on the left side, struggling with our WAGES and our SIN and our pending DEATH.  BUT Jesus paid our WAGES; He gave Himself taking the punishment for our SIN and He overcame DEATH on our behalf.  This is a free GIFT to us (we cannot earn it).  It is a GIFT from GOD.  And when we accept it (by believing and trusting in all that Jesus did for us), we are rewarded with ETERNAL LIFE (together forever with God, our Savior, in heaven)!!

 

Pretty cool, huh??
