Sometimes, the hardest thing we feel we have to do as North-
Americans is "WAIT". We want what we want how and when we want it ... instant gratification; when we want something, we want it immediately, if not sooner! Don't we? If we're honest, isn't that the society we live in?
Americans is "WAIT". We want what we want how and when we want it ... instant gratification; when we want something, we want it immediately, if not sooner! Don't we? If we're honest, isn't that the society we live in?
What if you were a Honduran?
I wait for the Lord, my whole being waits, and in his word I put my hope.
As we arrived to Brigade each day, there would already be a swarm of people waiting for us ... it had been about two years since one of the churches had hosted a brigade.
Psalm 27:14
Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.
Wait for the LORD; be strong and take heart and wait for the LORD.
It was hot and dry and dusty ... but they waited ...
Lord, I wait for you; you will answer, Lord my God.
... waiting with hope ...
Imagine if you are a person who needs to take high blood-pressure medication and your best chance of getting it is when a brigade of North-Americans comes to the local church.
(most of the people waited to be seen in Medical)
... waiting for relief ...
Imagine you are a person whose teeth are rotting away and you come to the brigade to be seen in "dental" because you know that the absence of teeth in your mouth means "relief".
(all had to wait outside until they were given a slip of paper that corresponded to the service they had come for)
... waiting with expectation ...
But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently.
They patiently waited ...
... some would wait for hours ...
... some would wait all day without being seen ...
Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore he will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for him!
Imagine your children having ear infections for months because you couldn't access or pay for a simple antibiotic like amoxicillin.
(for some, it was necessary to wait in the shade as the afternoon sun grew hotter and hotter)
(they use umbrellas to protect themselves from the hot sun)
...keep yourselves in God’s love as you wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ to bring you to eternal life.
(here, they wait to go through evangelism, where some will come to know Jesus for the very first time...)
Be patient, then, brothers and sisters, until the Lord’s coming.
What are you waiting for???
