From February 28 through March 7, 2015, a team will provide for the physical needs, as well as the spiritual needs, of the Honduran people. Follow us as we document the preparations and the planning, the training and the team-building, the going and the growing as we serve the LORD Jesus, our One and Only Savior, and the people of Honduras.

Our 2012 and 2013 missions are here as well ...

Bracelet-Making: Part Two (la segunda parte)

Hi All!  Last night we attended our second "bracelet-making" event!  If anyone is just tuning in, the bracelets will be given to children in Honduras during our ministry there later this year from September 29 - October 6.

There were quite a few more people who attended this time; it was a full house!  Praise the LORD!

Of course, the little ones started out really strong, figuring out what needed to be done and doing it!  What an inspiration!

Some of the newcomers were given a quick lesson ... and away they went to making their bracelets too!

Enthusiasm was at its height!

And there was some pretty deep concentration happening!  I hope nobody left with a headache!

At this table, we were all doing a different part of the process.  1) leather cord needs to be cut to appropriate length 2) first knot needs to be added 3) beads added and second knot added 4) ends criss-crossed through the last bead and 5) last knots added to secure handi-work!  This time I did not keep as good a count but I know that nearly all the supplies we had were used up!

I told you there was a whole bunch of helpers!
We still missed you, though, Joyce ... sorry you couldn't make it (big shout out to ya!)

-*-* BREAK TIME *-*-

Here I am ... making sure that the first knot is tied in the right place ... very important stuff!

Colleen was showing Michaela how the bracelets are counted and grouped so they can be wrapped in packs of 25 and then combined into 1-gallon ziplock bags of 250 ... this makes distribution in Honduras a little easier.

Okay, so I just had to share this ... I took a photo (see below) of this little array of disorganized chaos to remind myself what it looks like when Brynn has had enough of bracelet-making!!  :)

Ahh ... well, all in all, it was a great evening and it was nice to share some time with some of our mission team members ... just chatting and enjoying the opportunity.  I think the total number of bracelets now is ... well ... I really don't know!  I'm just going to guess that we are up to 900 (we had to do at least as many as we did the first time) but I do know that we've increased the bracelet goal from 1000 to 1200 based on the size of the mission team and anticipated ratio to Honduran people.

HOORAY!!!  ISN'T THAT GREAT?!?
WE CAN DO IT!  YES, WE CAN!  WE CAN DO IT~WE KNOW WE CAN!!!

Prayer Requests

On June 10, the next installment of our mission payments are due - $620/person.  With the money we already put down in the beginning, that means the total of our mission account needs to be at $2,480 on June 10.  We are currently at $2,395.  We are REALLY CLOSE!  Please pray we make our goal.

After that, we have to raise $775/person by August 19; that's a total of $2,325.  We will be having some fundraisers which we'll tell you about in the next post!
