Our second day in Honduras was Sunday. This was a day to rest and get acclimated to our surroundings and the way of life at The Ranch.
We, of course had a church service. Due to the size of our team, it was not possible to take all of us and all of the people who live at The Ranch into the city to a church so our team actually presented the church service and time of worship.
First teammate Bob led the "Call to Worship". Everything that was said in English was also translated into Spanish. All of the children who live at The Ranch are trained to be bi-lingual so this helps to affirm that.
This room is called the "Capilla" or Chapel, in English. Future plans for the room exist that will transform it into the eating area. It will be similar to a school cafeteria when it is complete.
Teammate Barb led our worship through song. She is a fantastic worship leader and she chose some really nice music for everyone to sing.
A few of the team members joined Barb in leading the music!
Just like at church back at home, nobody likes to sit in the front row! Hahahaha!!
Teammate Luke delivered the message ... it was a message about LOVE.
God's LOVE, ... His LOVE for us ... and His display of that LOVE in Christ's sacrifice for us!
In the afternoon there was time to play and get to know some
of the kids who live at The Ranch ...
There was also a soccer match!
Soccer is a big deal in Honduras!
Of course, ... it was US against THEM!
We tried really hard!
It sure was a lot of fun, not to mention good exercise!
Of course, ... THEY WON!!!
In the evening we had the great opportunity to show a Disney movie! The kids were super excited about this! We passed out popcorn for everyone as they got ready
for the BIG SHOW!
The movie was projected onto two white sheets. Thanks to teammate Dave for bringing BIG HERO SIX and the projector to show it!!! Super FUN!!
It was really a great experience to watch the movie outdoors under a blanket of beautiful stars. Thank-you, LORD! I tried to take a photo of the sky ... really, I did!
I'm not sure who enjoyed the movie more, the kids or the adults!! There was lots of laughter ...!
Okay, so our Honduras trip wasn't all fun and play!! The next post will reveal why, (I'm sure it's why) many of us (ME) are still feeling tired!!
