First, we sat down to a very nicely organized table of the necessary supplies: assorted colors of beads, leather cord (pre-cut and knotted) and sample bracelets.
Once the simple instructions were given, we got busy making the bracelets. Here's (L to R) Brian, Claudia (our youngest mission team member, 14) and Colleen (one of the Team leaders).
Chase and Susan, both from our church, were happily making their bracelets. Susan is on the mission team going to Honduras and Chase is interested in going on a future mission trip and participating in the "Honduras from Home" ministry by helping to make the bracelets that will bless many little children.
The bracelets need to be beaded in the correct order ... these are actually backwards/upside down; the green bead is the first bead. :)
Colleen and Molly had to cut more leather strips because we were putting the bracelets together so quickly!
Woo Hoo!!! Another 25 bracelets!
Both Molly and Brynn worked really hard and we were so proud of them! They are really getting into the "Honduras from Home" portion of this mission and it is wonderful to have them be a part of it right along with us!
When Brynn tired of beading, she took it upon herself to go to each of us and pass out more strips of leather.
There were nine of us making bracelets and in two hours we made 425+ bracelets!!! That is so awesome!!
We had a wonderful evening and we were blessed by the fellowship and blessed by the knowledge that these simple bracelets will bring a smile to the faces of many Honduran children.
The Meaning of the Gospel Bracelet:
1) Green Bead - GARDEN of Eden; beautiful, perfect place God made for the first people on earth, Adam and Eve
2) Black Bead - SIN; Satan deceived them and they disobeyed God
3) Red Heart Bead - LOVE of God; Poured out for all people, the blood of Jesus who died on the cross for the sin of all mankind
4) White Bead - PURE/FORGIVENESS; Cleansed of the filth of our sin when we accept the precious gift that Jesus gave us when He died for us
5) Gold Bead - ETERNAL LIFE; Heaven with streets of gold, the place prepared for us who accept and believe that Jesus IS our Savior
6) The Blue Bead represents our first act of public confession of our faith in Jesus Christ - BaptismPrayer Requests:
*Please pray that each of these bracelets touches a child in a special way. Pray for the protection of that child, that he/she has enough to eat and that right now, even now, God is preparing that child for us to come and share the Truth with him/her.
**Please pray that our mission support continues to grow, that more people will be praying for us and that we will continue to raise the necessary financial support to go on this mission trip.
